The simple purpose of this podcast is to help you get things done every day so that you can accomplish something worthwhile with your life.
Matthew 5:16 says: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Our quote for today is from Vince Lombardi. He said: “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”
Today, in the Get Things Done podcast we are looking at Part 11 of Step 9: “Establish An Action Environment.”
Q: When people have a clear sense of their own priorities and values, shouldn’t they be able to withstand the adverse influence of associates who might tempt them to procrastinate? In other words, regardless of whom we associate with, shouldn’t we all be “masters of our fates and captains of our souls”?
A: Character does, of course, insulate one to a considerable extent from adverse influences. But not completely. It’s hard for even the most “self-actualized” person to maintain enthusiasm and dedication when continually in the presence of indifference. As someone has observed, “It’s hard to soar with the eagles when you’re among a bunch of turkeys.” Enthusiasm is contagious; so is lethargy. So one of the ways of demonstrating that you really are the “captain of your soul” is to chart a course that will carry you into different waters, where the climate is more conducive to action.
